Brook Louis is first and foremost a spiritual explorer. Being born and raised in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, Brook Louis grew up in and identified with southern evangelical spirituality. His first mystical experiences happened during his college years when God showed him through dreams and signs his calling to be a minister. However, studying religion in college broke down his old conservative evangelical identity and replaced it with a greater understanding of how religion and spirituality work within the human and how it impacts society.

In seminary, Brook Louis focused his studies on mystical spirituality. Finding a theological home in the Christian mystics, he also explored practices and teachings from other traditions. He fell in love with the occult teachings of philosophical alchemy; dove deep into the theology of the Eastern Orthodox Christians; and found a passion for connecting social justice to spirituality.
